The closer you stay to the airport the more you pay for lodging (usually). There are several less expensive options in the vicinity of Frankfurt Airport. My preference is to stay in the Rhine Gorge area (Rüdesheim is 50 km - ¾ hr away) but there are also several small towns around the airport where reasonably priced rooms can be found. A few possibilities to consider -
Rüdesheim (50 km to airport)
Hotel Zum Grünen Kranz (Ben) ..This is an excellent little hotel with a very friendly staff, a
cozy, cool little Biergarten and in a good location. The Drosselgasse is just a few blocks away and the parking
area is but a short walk.

proprietor came outside to greet us in perfect English. He took us to our rooms which were immaculate - advised
us of a good restaurant a short walk away and graciously left us for the night. Early the following morning we
departed for the airport. It took approx. 20 minutes to arrive at the airport, turn in the car and head toward
the gate.

(geonrose@bellsouth.net) ...We have stayed at the Arabella Sheraton near the airport several times. It's a little pricey, but the weekend rate is usually pretty reasonable. It's about 5-10 minutes from the Airport but in the nice quiet area of Schwaig-Oberding The breakfast is fabulous and they have a shuttle which used to be free, but now there is a small charge. It's a small Hotel that looks like a Bavarian House.

(Patti) ...The Huberwirt was easily spotted and we were at our first destination without any problem. The lady at the desk spoke a little English and in just a few moments we were in our rooms (a triple room and a double room). We were all amazed at how clean they were and how roomy and comfortable. I recommend the Huberwirt highly. The rooms looked as if they might have just been renovated. The bathrooms were very clean with heated towel racks and hair dryers supplied. The proprietor was extremely kind and helpful. We all had a good nights sleep and were ready to head to the Dachau Concentration Camp. The breakfast offered in the morning turned out to be the best of the trip! Very traditional with breads, cheeses, yogurt, eggs, granola.
