(Lizbuch2) ...We stayed at the Alleehaus (An Allee is a tree-lined street in Germany) in Freiburg in the summer of 2000. It's a small, informal hotel in a residential area within easy walking distance of the cathedral. Our room, on the second floor, was very large by European standards. The large windows reached the tall ceiling (possibly 12-14 ft) and looked out into green leafy trees. Our ensuite bath, with shower, was modern and spotless; some rooms have bathtubs. Breakfast, served in a bright modern room with a window overlooking the garden, was really special with interesting fruits, meats and cheeses, all beautifully presented. The quality of the food was better than we have encountered in similar German hotels. We paid less than $100/night for our double room and are looking forward to staying there again on our next trip to Freiburg.
