We spent one night at the Dom Hotel...a "grande dame" situated right on the Domplatz. Unfortunately, the hotel was undergoing major renovation work and we decided to move to a different hotel, after our first night. The main reason was that the hotel's air-conditioning was out because of the construction. This hotel had a marvelous staff, which was very sympathetic and understanding when I told them we would not be staying after our first night. No problems whatsoever. While the location, facing the magnificent Dom is very appealing, our room was a bit of a let down. The room was very basic, however... the bathroom was superb! There was also quite a bit of outside noise, even at 4 a.m. We did eat dinner here and were not disappointed. Very good food and friendly wait staff. We paid about 150€ for our room, not including breakfast. A glamorous, old-world property, in a great location.
