Don (Eihloha) received his first introduction to Germany courtesy of the U.S. Air Force in 1964. Assigned to give weather support to the Army border pilots in Fulda - Don rented a room in a German home - studied the language - and associated with Germans as much as possible. That experience proved to be a major turning point in his life. Don vowed to return someday - which he did in 1972 (after receiving a degree in German) - that time staying for 15 years. He worked for several German companies - all the while learning the import-export trade. Don's college sweetheart - Loretta (also fluent in German) joined him in 1977 - they married - and their children - Lisa and Stephen - were born there. They all returned to the states in 1987 when Don started his own import-export business. Don and Loretta plan to retire to the Fulda area in a few years. ...Maybe they will have a spare bed for their Stammtisch friends.... :-)
