Great views from balcony of the Karwendel mountain range

Fritz and Senta Walter are warm and friendly hosts who will welcome you into their beautiful Bavarian home. The price in 2007 was 14.50 Euro per person. The rooms are spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated with paintings and woodswork done by Fritz.

While visiting Wallgau in September 2007 we were lucky enough to witness the village's annual Erntedankfest. The ceremony took place behind the parish church St. Jakob's (in the cemetery) and lasted about an hour. Present were local clubs and organizations, a band and local dignitaries - all dressed in their finest traditional outfits.

After the service there was a procession across dew covered fields with the beautiful Karwendal mountain range in the background.

An excellent place for lunch or just a Bier is the Berggaststätte Maxhütte which is located on a local hillside accessible (by patrons) only via a good 15 to 20 minute uphill hike. But once there the view overlooking the village is incredible (weather permitting).
