(Larry) ... After a liesurely drive from Oberammergau, and a brief stop
at the Wieskirche, I arrive in Füssen around noon. It is a beautiful sunny day. I make my way over to the
Forggensee to the little community of Waltenhofen. Not much more than a few houses and a church, but it suits me
fine. This will be my basecamp for the next three days, and the weather is made to order. It's good to be back
in one of my favorite areas in Germany.
My accommodations are a repeat visit, something I rarely do, but none of the farms I had contacted in the area
had vacancies. So, I opt for Plan B. The Gästehaus Moarhof
is located right on the lake, in a nice quiet neighborhood. The family Huber runs the place, and they are super
good hosts. Frau Huber remembers me from five years ago, and shows me to a nice DZ with balcony, shower/toilet,
and TV.
