(Joan) ...I had reserved a room without a balcony or view because it was cheaper. However, when I got there, I asked if they had a room with a balcony and view that was not reserved and could I have it for the same price as the one without the view. While they didn't give me the same price, they did lower the price they had quoted when I emailed for reservations. I decided to splurge and take the room with the view. What a wonderful decision. The hotel is right on the banks of the lake and the Alps rise up around the lake. It is incredibly beautiful. I really, really wanted to hike around the lake and take a gondola to the top of the mountains. The afternoon I arrived, it was overcast and drizzly, so I only walked about 1/4 way around the lake before I ran out of film and the batteries in my digital died. I decided to do the hike and the gondola the next day. Unfortunately, a storm moved in that night and it poured down rain all day the next day and all I could do was sit and watch it rain over the incredible view of the lake and mountains.

My room was beautiful and huge. It had a wonderful balcony where you could see all around. It is probably the most beautiful place I've visited in
Europe -- scenic wise. I would never hesitate to recommend this spectacular place to anyone and would stay there again in a heart beat, but would pray for better weather. I had hoped the rain would quit on my final morning so I could at least take the gondola to the top of the mountains, but it was still pouring, so I missed the beauty of everything. People kept telling me that up until that week it had been warm, sunny and beautiful for weeks. However, once I arrived, the weather took a decided turn for the worse. It was too bad, but that's a chance you take any time you go to Europe.
