(Val) ...The Hotel Hessischer Hof holds a special place in my heart. Upon our arrival, the front door had a sign, indicating that the hotel was closed at night. The sign directed us to the side entrance door where I pushed a button, which telephoned a young man. I told him we were early, for check-in, but only wanted to leave our luggage until we could check-in. He told me he would have to call his sister and that she would be there in a few minutes. In about 5 minutes, a young man named Daniel appeared. He told us he lived over the garage and asked to see our reservations. I showed him my paperwork. He used his cell phone to call someone and, then, let us into the hotel lobby. He gave us a key and we took the elevator to our room. Daniel was delightful and spoke excellent English. Since we were using Fulda as a base for day trips, the Hessischer Hof could not have been more convenient, based on its close proximity to the Hauptbahnhof. The train station is two-tiered. Access to the hotel is gained by exiting on the upper tier and walking past the city's bus terminal. Only 1 block away from the station. Extremely close!

The hotel, itself, was simply terrific. Our corner room had a very modern decor and we loved it. I had booked a standard room, but the hotel also offers suites with a couch/sitting area and separate jacuzzi tub and shower in the bathroom. The room was clean "as a whistle" and very comfortable. Our room did not have a mini-bar, but we did have SAT TV - a desk & chair - and ample closet space. The hotel offers an elevator - car park/garage - and breakfast, included in the room rate. The hotel's decor was very nice and we appreciated the little accents, such as the Easter decorations located at the outside entrances.

Fulda's main sights were about 4-5 blocks from the hotel and easily walked. Considering that the hotel management took time away from their family festivities to open the hotel for only 2 persons, I cannot recommend the Hessischer Hof more highly. On our second day, the female manager and Daniel were waiting for us, when we finally got up and going. We didn't leave our room until almost noon and I'm quite certain they waited all morning for their only guests to depart their room. I cannot say enough about the way we were treated. Not once...not even once...did they act like we were an imposition. They were kind and cordial from beginning to end. Deutsch hospitality at its finest!
