(Fadoinka) ...we got back into our trusty wagon and headed for Boppard. We arrived at our hotel, the Best Western Bellevue, located right on the Rheinstrasse, about 2 pm. We had a very large room with a balcony overlooking the Rhine...even our bathroom had a balcony.
...I had booked the Bellevue because they
advertised having nightly entertainment. So, I thought this would give us something to do at night. Well, the hotel
did not have any entertainment that night, but their sister hotel...the Ebertor, just down the Rheingasse.. did
have live music.. so we changed and headed out. It was now about 8 p.m. and as we were walking along the Rhine,
I spotted an Italian restaurant, Bei Toni. We walked in an got a table. And...it was simply divine! All the
meals smelled like heaven ...garlic heaven that is! I ordered a Bellini and a Pizza Diavola ...hot and spicy and
terrific!
We then walked the short block or two to the Ebertor. ...It has a great Biergarten and very nice public rooms.
Don Kohn was the one-man band that evening and everyone was dancing the night away. Once again, we discovered that
music is, indeed, the universal language. "Take Me Home Country Roads" was the hit of the night and everyone
joined in the singing!
We decided to check out other places in Boppard and walked up a few of the side streets. As we walked along, we
spotted the RomerBurg Weinstube...a great half-timbered building near our hotel. It was definitely the "hot
spot" of Boppard! Not a seat to be had in the entire place, so we just ordered a bier and stood. I finally
found a seat and enjoyed all the guys hitting on the girls. Just like back home! After a few Warsteiners, we tired
of the "singles scene" and went back to the Bellevue.
We headed up to our room for some television and Bitburgers from the minibar. The night was so crisp and cool...
really made for great sleeping. The Rhine was mystifying, as always, with the sounds of boats and trains in the
background. No wonder I love it here so much!
(DOWELT) ...This
is one of the more formal hotels that I have stayed at in my trips to Germany. It is located across from the Rhine,
with an excellent view. The room that we stayed in had a balcony where one could sit and watch the Rhine traffic.
It was a short walk to the center of town and the pedestrian walk along the Rhine. Breakfast as always was excellent.
Parking was in front of the hotel or in their parking lot close by. We were lucky and were able to park right in
front of the hotel.
