(Chuck) ...When in the Heilbronn area I always stay in the Insel Hotel, which is located in the middle of the Neckar river. The owner, who passed away a couple of years back, originally owned two hotels across from the Bahnhof when I first arrived in Germany. The first one I stayed in was the Vaterland and it still had a large part of it blown away from one of our air raids. He later bought the Insel which was (and still is in my opinion) the best hotel in Heilbronn. Great Swabian food and a great outside area where you can sit and enjoy terrific bakery products and sip a Bier and people watch.
