(Bill) ...a Stammtisch friend had raved about Schwäbisch Hall so we
took off for there. Visited the church (nice) and walked the town center, crossed the stone bridge, took pictures,
wandered along the river and crossed the wooden covered bridge and, took more pictures. Worked our way back up
to where we had parked the car and left. Only a couple or three hours there, decided we had seen what we needed
to see.
Took the road back about 5 km and stayed at Hotel Rössle
in Veinau. Nice spot, had dinner there and I had a ragout of deer meat. I sent my compliments to the chef, and
I am convinced they DID have a chef not just a cook, as this was one of the top 5 meals I have ever had in Germany:
rich sauce, intense flavor, extremely tender deer meat, with vegetables and a large ball of flavored dough they
called a noodle. And the beer was one of the best I've had in Germany. Said it was brewed in Schwäbisch Hall
but it was a Hofbräuhaus beer. Had two grosse steins. They reluctantly took credit cards (MC and Visa) after
saying they did at dinner, but when went to pay on checking out they said no. I pushed it so they pulled out CC
machine from under counter and took the card. So if paying by CC is important to you, be sure and ask beforehand.
