(Val) ...Excellent hotel with reasonable rates, the Mercure Hotel Altstadt
is located 500 meters from the Hauptbahnhof and just off the Anger, at the beginning of the pedestrian zone. From
the train station - walk left, across Willy Brandt Platz, to Bahnhofstrasse; make a right and continue walking,
past lots of bakeries, delicatessens, etc.; make a right onto Anger; walk on a short distance, cross the street
and bear left, at the tram stop, and you'll see the hotel in front of you.
The hotel presents a clean, crisp, and somewhat modern appearance. The front desk staff was accommodating and spoke
excellent English. Hotel services include an elevator - 24-hr. front desk - lobby bar - elevator - parking (garage
and secure outdoor parking) - restaurant & room service - sauna, steam bath, and jacuzzi - tour desk - bike
rentals - laundry/dry cleaning services and a breakfast buffet for an extra fee of 15 euro per person. All major
credit cards are accepted.
Our room faced the rear of the hotel, overlooking an inner-courtyard parking area, with a view of several apartments/private
residences bordering the courtyard. The room was nicely decorated, clean and comfortable.

The location was terrific - .2 km from the Kramerbrucke - .5 km from the Fischmarkt - 1.2 km from the Dom/Severiekirche.
