Nathan (formerly NBarnes503) & Monja met in 1992 while Nathan was stationed at Miesau near Kaiserslautern. Monja is from the small village of Kirchheimbolanden between Mainz and Kaiserslautern. In August of 92 they married and now have two children. They have lived in the Puget Sound area of Washington State and now live in Port Orchard. Monja has recently gone back to school to pursue a degree in International Business and Nathan owns an Insurance Agency which he hopes to sell in the near future and then return to live in Germany. His reason for moving? The beer is sooo much better.

Since 1997 Nathan & Monja have gone to Europe once (and sometimes twice) a year to travel and visit with friends
and family. They usually travel for two-thirds of the trip and spend the remainder with friends.

Nathan enjoys being a Washington Husky fan and traveling in Europe and the Pacific NW with his family. He also
enjoys collecting German beer/bar items for his personal enjoyment via travel or Ebay.

Monja enjoys cooking, painting, camping
and sharing her German heritage with their friends. Her German meals, especially around the holidays are legandary.
Favorite German locations and activities: The Rhon, Heidelberg, Michelstadt, Schiltach, Wurzburg, Linderhof, Berchtesgaden,
Salzburg & Hallstatt (Austria), taking the back roads, visiting the many Christmas markets and staying in farm
homes. (Read Nate's reports on the Waxenlehen
near Berchtesgaden and the Vorderhof in the Black Forest)

Favorite refreshments: Gluhwein, Bischoff bier, Warsteiner bier, Alt bier on a meter board, Asbach Uralt on a cold
evening and Spatze.

More than anything they enjoy sharing with others their love of Germany and European travel.
Enjoy Nathan's trip report of Christmas 2000 in southern Germany.. Nice job Nate!
