(PStuyvsant) ...After a non-eventful flight we arrive in Frankfurt right on time. With bags in tow I hop a cab for the ten minute ride to Kelsterbach to pick up my Europcar rental. From here it is a straight shot on the A3 toward Würzburg. I pick up the B290 and cruise on into Rothenburg, arriving at the Pension Freund around noon.

The Frau is expecting me and I am given a nice DZ (doubleroom), with facilities in the room, for €29 per night (2007). As it turns out this was the most I paid the entire trip. The place is right out of the Middle Ages, nestled up against the outer wall. One can only imagine the years of history this place has seen. It is located about fifty meters outside the Plönlein, and only a ten minute walk to the Marktplatz.

You definitely get your Euro worth here. So, for anyone looking for genuine ancient history and ambiance with your accommodations while in Rothenburg, this place fills the bill.
