We have stayed at Pension Tyrian in Dresden three times: 2003, 2006 and 2009. The host family does not speak English, but we have never had any trouble communicating with them. We find their room rates very reasonable. By car, its close to Autobahn A4, then road B6. They have a small parking area on the premises.

The double rooms on the second floor are spacious, very clean and tidy. There is a double room on the first floor that is cheaper and smaller.  There are also two single rooms on the first floor.  The rooms are in a separate building from the home of the Tyrian family who live on the property.

They have wireless Internet connectivity and we used our laptop with SKYPE to call home during our stay.

Downstairs there is a very nice breakfast room and accompanying kitchen. There are beverages available for purchase any time. You simply take what you want and leave a note.

Outside there is a nice family garden area and chairs and table to relax and enjoy during nice weather.

From the pension, you can walk only a block or so to catch the Strassenbahn (electric street car) to downtown Dresden at the Post Platz.  The Strassenbahn costs 7 Euro for two people for an all day pass, 5 Euro for a single day pass. We drove the car to the Zentrum and parked underneath the Hilton Hotel for 2 Euro first hour then 1.80 Euro each hour thereafter.

There is a great restaurant Immergruen (Evergreen) just 100 meters down the street. We had two really great dinners there. Reasonable price too!  We also found a small Baeckerei (bakery) a few doors down from Pension Tyrian where we had our afternoon “Kaffee und Kuchen”.

Our first year staying at Pension Tyrian in Dresden, we were learning the ropes of staying in Dresden. We didn't know that the Strassenbahn stopped so close. The Tyrian family urged us to take it and even provided us with our first ticket to ride. We were so grateful at their hospitality! Of course we replaced the ticket we used for the ride.  My wife had washed her jeans and left them outside to dry while we left to go to town. During our time away, it rained. The Tyrian family took the jeans inside to let them continue to dry during the rain.

We really enjoy staying with or doing business with people like the Tyrians. They treat their customers as we would do also if we were pension hosts. We highly recommend Pension Tyrian and it is the only place we stay whenever we visit Dresden. Note they do NOT take credit cards so you have to pay with Euro.
