.. The Perlerlehen is a very pleasant farmhouse with a new
addition which enlarged the lovely breakfast room... Our room was rather small, but very comfortable with a private
bath, color TV, and all the usual amenities..The farmhouse is perched in a high meadow above Berchtesgaden...
About a mile down the road from the Perlerlehen is a WONDERFUL
restaurant, the Cafe Salzbergalm. The terrace was wonderful and overlooked B'gaden in the valley below. The food
was awesome -- my husband had the Zwiebelfleisch, roast beef in a sweet onion gravy, and I had grilled fish. The
apple strudel was the best I ever tasted. Naturally, the beer was wonderful also. If we had found this cafe our
first night instead of our last, we would have eaten every meal there.
While we were in B'gaden, we took the "Sound of Music" tour to Salzburg. This tour company is run by
a young American couple and they do mini-van tours to Salzburg, Eagle's Nest, Munich, etc. Because the tours are
small, it is best to book in advance. It was worth every penny to let someone else drive for a while. They picked
us up at the Perlerlehen and returned after the tour. Check out their website: http://www.eagles-nest-tours.com/
By the way, we loved Salzburg so much that after we returned to the Perlerlehen, we all got into our cars and drove
back!
