Wäldebauernhof |
(Larry) ...Today I really struck paydirt. Arriving in Gutach to a nice
sunny day, I made my way over to the Wäldebauernhof right next to the outdoor museum (Vogtsbauernhof), and
about twenty yards from the new Rodelbahn put in about a year ago.
Run by the Family Götz, this farm dates back to 1491. After a fire in 1933 it was reconstructed in the typical
Black Forest style and much of the house was rebuilt as guest rooms. Each room is named for the room's original
use such as Vorratskammer (supply room). Creaky stairs and all, it is a gem. I had a large EZ (single room), with
a huge balcony overlooking the valley and the B33 roadway. The price, with breakfast, only €15.
The farm produces among other things home distilled Schnapps, wood oven baked bread, as well as fresh sausage products.
This place turned out to be my favorite of the whole trip, and I will definitely plan to return for a future visit.
